What is a MyChart recruitment message?

MyChart is a handy tool to access your personal health information, request medication refills, message your medical team, and more. Many hospital systems throughout the US use their institution’s MyChart messaging platform to invite patients to participate in research studies. In late 2025, the UVM Medical Center’s Epic Electronic Medical Record system was upgraded and now supports the sending of messages to patients with opportunities to participate in clinical studies.

How can I opt out of receiving MyChart recruitment messages?

Opting out is easy! Please note that opting out only affects recruitment messages that you get through MyChart.

Opting out from the MyChart website

Go to https://mychart.uvmhealth.org and log in with your personal account information. When you are in your account’s home page, click the menu button (top left button with three horizontal lines) and scroll down to “Research Studies” under “Resources”. Select “Do Not Contact”.
