The Department of Chemistry received Graduate College approval to offer interested undergraduates the opportunity to obtain both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemistry in an accelerated, five-year track through the accelerated master’s program. The program retains the core academic rigors of our traditional master’s program, including a breadth of chemical knowledge and research experience. The accelerated master’s program provides students a competitive position for graduate programs and careers in chemical industry based on the increased content knowledge and practical experience.
The accelerated master’s program has the same requirements as the traditional master’s degree program in chemistry. The coursework is identical, as is the thesis requirement. Students in the accelerated program will complete the seminar presentation as a requirement in their senior year, though they can complete the same course in their fifth year, if they so choose.
