skiing tuesday with a group of 20-something hotshots at mrg. I held my own, until I whacked my knee into a tree, damaging cartilage (what little is left from previous injjuries) in the process. pretty sure I tore a mess of medial meniscus cartilage. can’t bend knee without severe pain. can barely walk, let alone ski. even driving is difficult — pressing the brake pedal hurts. saw primary care physician yesterday (actually, his resident stand-in), but he knew little more about knees than I. x-rays taken at UHC, but probably won’t get seriously looked at until I go to orthopedic surgeon, which isn’t scheduled until tuesday march 22. needless to say, i’m a little bit depressed.

Near as I can tell, there was nothing wrong with the print server.
So I deleted all print queues and all queued print jobs from all the Macs. I then reconfigured them all such that every time someone logs in, all printers in the printer list are deleted, except for the Shared Printers. Students can still use Printer Setup Utility to add a printer, but there should never be a need to do so. And if they do, it will be deleted when the next student logs in. I dunno if this will solve the problems, since the problem wasn’t well defined — but maybe it will help. And if it just makes matters worse, please let me know
I’ve begun the long process of documenting what i have learned about iPods and Acadmics. First bit was calendars. Based on experiments with Oracle Calendar and ics files (see here ), I was able to produce this. Griffin iTalk (and Larry Shelton) provided the inspiration for this.
