Changes in My Phenology Site

I have noticed a pretty dramatic shift in the snow pack of my Phenology Site near the North East Corner of Simpson Woods. During my last visit, there was a few inches, if that, of snow that was freshly fallen and more powdery. The snow that I experienced most recently was more grey and icy. This was most likely due to the irregular thaw and freeze period that has been occurring more frequently.

In addition to the alteration in the snow pack, there was a slight change in the trees’ appearance. During my last visit, there were a few leaves in the trees still. Now there are no leaves and the trees look very barren and skeleton like.

Animal Tracking

I was fairly certain that I located a grey squirrel. The gait and stride matched the description almost perfectly. I was also able to use my common sense and knowledge of the area to rule out other species.
