Next week, the Media Commons project In Media Res will be hosting a theme week on Steven Shaviro’s Post-Cinematic Affect (which I wrote about here).
I’ll be guest curating the discussion on Wednesday, and Steven will be responding on Friday.
Here’s the full line up:
- Monday August 29: Elena Del Rio (University of Alberta, Canada)
- Tuesday August 30: Paul Bowman (Cardiff University, UK)
- Wednesday August 31: Adrian Ivakhiv (University of Vermont, USA)
- Thursday September 1: Patricia MacCormack (Anglia Ruskin University, UK)
- Friday September 2: Steven Shaviro (Wayne State University, USA)
To participate you will need to take a moment to register here.
Adrian, as I told you recently, I’m very much looking forward to this event. And as promised, I’ve plugged it here: http://medieninitiative.wordpress.com/2011/08/24/post-cinematic-affect-theme-week-at-in-media-res/
I also just returned to your post on Shaviro’s book, which you linked to above, and am very impressed with your thoughts upon re-reading them!
All the best,

Just read the great opening post by Elena del Rio, and wanted to reply but cannot log in to in media res. So I posted my response, for now, on my own blog (but will try again later at in media res): http://medieninitiative.wordpress.com/2011/08/29/metabolic-images-and-post-cinematic-affect/ Anyway, thought it might be of interest to readers here. Looking forward to the rest of the contributions to the theme week!
