Amazing that after 7000 years this 100+ megalith cromlech is standing (once again), and that it was only “discovered” in 1964. (Discovered presumably by those who had a reasonably good idea of what they were discovering…) It is the Almendres Cromlech outside Evora, Portugal.
What do you think of Julian Cope’s books. I have the first one and must confess I really liked it.
Hi Tim – I have The Megalithic European, and love it. Itºs beautifully designed, very visual, and lays out a great alternative geography. I think of it as in the same genre as the material the Center for Land Use Intepretation puts out (in the States). Cope´s scholarship can be a bit wacky, but what do you expect… His enthusiasm is infectious.
This is prehistoric art.
