Final Object Analysis

The final version of your Object Analysis is due by 11:59pm on Monday,November 6.

Your final post should take into account ALL comments on your draft–both those that came out of the peer review session in class on Tuesday, October 31 as well as the comments that I emailed to you yesterday.

Be sure that your post is accurate and complete:

  • Remember that your post should consist of both DESCRIPTION and ANALYSIS. Don’t just stop at describing your object and providing historical and/or cultural background information on it. You also need to use your description to make an argument!
  • Your post should include at least one IMAGE of your object, and preferably other media (images, sounds, videos) that feature objects similar to the one you are analyzing.
  • CITE YOUR SOURCES! You should be sure to include a citation for all information in your essay that you discovered through your research. This goes for direct quotes as well as for any other information that does not emerge out of your own direct observation of your object. You also need to include a BIBLIOGRAPHY at the end of your post that correctly lists all of the sources you used in writing your essay. (You do not need to include the annotations for your bibliography entries in this post.)
  • Be sure to PROOF READ your essay! It should be free of spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Your writing should be clear and compelling. Have someone else (a roommate, a friend, a stranger in the dining hall…) read your essay before you post it to the class blog.
  • Note that this is the first assignment for this class for which you will receive a QUALITY GRADE! Your grade will be broken down as follows:

Research Statement (5 points)
Annotated Bibliography (10 points)
Draft Post (20 points)
Peer Review (5 points)
FINAL DRAFT (60 points)
