Summer Enrichment Scholarship Program Training
We created different scenarios for the Summer Enrichment Scholarship Program Peer Advisors to practice different situations that might occur during the program. For this project we had to reflect on our own experiences as past Resident Assistants/Advisors and tips to give them tips on how to serve their students best. Overall, this was a great experience because it was interesting to see how the skills as a Resident Assistant translate over from institution to institution.

In this project, I was assigned to further develop the NUFP Mentor handbook. The purpose of this handbook is to provide resources and guidance for new/continuing mentors in the NUFP program. There are pieces of what the program can provide for fellows, but also provides some tips for mentors. My favorite part is the readings. I was able to research articles that provide insight into healthy mentoring relationships. In doing so, I learned a lot about the value of goal setting as a mentor and mentee pair. Lastly, I interviewed past mentors and got to create an ‘Advice from Past Mentors’ Section. This section quotes some of the things that the mentors said as well as take three key words from all of their experiences.
