Motor runnin’

Friday already?
* Wrapped up another interview
* Tweaked MMG application
* Lightweight support for podcasting/garageband workshop
* Dug deeper into Expression Engine (quite a robust CMS application)
* Had a fun stairway conversation with a faculty member on the steps in the Davis Center this morning (btw, Gordon’s coffee has improved by leaps and bounds)
* Found out about a few incoming new online courses
* Eco-Econ planning meeting
* Had a productive (and quick) bi-weekly one-on-one/check-in
* Processed ICCIE
Yes, it is finally Friday. Busy week – see you Monday!

Will not attend.

Another heavy meeting day, as we started interviews. Some highlights:
* Looked again at Expression Engine templating – need to find out if we really need to import pre-made themes or not.
* Began looking into issues with existing MMG issues – possibly related to serving the swf file straight up, instead of embedding it.
* CMS group started prioritizing items from the brainstorming sessions
* Did I mention interviews?
* Touched footprints ticket on reported MT4.01 Firefox/Mac issues. Still looking for a solid list of open MT bugs – hard to find stuff between MT’s Pronet (which isn’t even open, making it hard to point colleagues to anyway), Community Wiki, Forums, etc.
* Processed IBM
* Got schooled on better RSVP practices, calendar kung-fu, and other ways to avoid bad calendar karma.
* I think I owe holly a pen.
Tomorrow will go smoother.

Boo!

Not much real project/dev work done today due to a high meeting load. Wednesdays tend to result in me being AFK more often than not. Never fear, today’s list is here.
* Wrapped up this last book group read, talked about picking the next book.
* Interview prep meeting
* Tested converted XML file import for MMG case – looks good for the most part (thanks Kihwa!).
* Logged a few tickets at (and after) Dr Is In.
* Investigated ICCIE Wimba log in problems (cannot replicate).
Happy halloween!

That’s just like, your opinion, man.

Is it a… What day is it?
* Staff meeting (under an hour!)
* Handed off MMG XML conversion
* Cleared out and archived a sizeable stack of old Basecamp projects
* Created a few projects in Basecamp
* Got a solid start on image tools for MFIC (yay for Rails and handy plugins)
* Processed ICCIE registrations
* Fixed ICCIE student acount
(It’s a [weekday](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Lebowski).)

* Reset MMG application
* Recieved copy and changes for new MMG module
* Had some fun discussions and met some interesting folks at the Web 2.0 “Back to Basics” mini-workshop. Even got some folks to join us on del.icio.us.
* Blog task force meeting moved from L408 to 303 for lack of access to room (need to get key).
* Blog task force decided on using footprints for issue tracking for project management.
* Experimented with embedding calendars.
* Processed ICCIE and IBM noncredit registrations.

Rebirth

I’m switching the focus of this blog from a tutorial/help blog to something more mundane (yet still interesting, I hope) – an activity report. Expect to see brief postings describing weekly or daily activities here in the future.
The screencast idea wasn’t quite working out in this area. I may set up a vimeo account to do this at some point. If I do, I’ll note it over on my main blog.

New videos up on Blogging Help @ UVM

After our whirlwind winter workshop series, I hadn’t gotten the chance to point out the new screencast tutorials we put up over on the Bloggin Help @ UVM site. There are two new ones there – one depicting how to set up StyleCatcher, and one showing how to install and use “widgets” on your blog.
While you’re there, check out the static home page tutorial that Hope just posted.

Sketch It With Photos

Wow, the “Textures: Using Photos” screencast over in the Google Sketchup Video Tutorials area just about blew my mind. Way cool. That’s some pretty powerful stuff available for a free app.

Create and Download WebCT Course Backups

Over on the WebCT Gateway site, there is a new screencast available, on creating and downloading course backups in WebCT CE 4.1. As noted there, this is a visual representation of information that is available in the WebCT help files. For your convenience, the direct link to the .mov file is also available here.

I’ve also taken this opportunity to experiment a bit with google video. The Google Video version is fuzzier and smaller, but you can get a general idea of where things are from watching it.
