About

Overview: The “Women in Ag Programs for 21st Century Farms and Ranches” professional development workshop is a one-day, interactive session designed to prepare participants to deliver engaging, innovative and effective programs for beginning women farmers and ranchers.

Goals: The workshop was planned and developed by a multi-disciplinary planning team. Our hope is that the workshop will help participants expand and improve existing initiatives and get new programs off to the right start. Review the specific learning goals for the day.

Participants: 50 agricultural educators and technical service providers from 19 states are scheduled to participate. It is a diverse group, including people who work for Extension, land grant universities, nonprofits, government agencies and agribusinesses, as well as farmers and ranchers who offer beginning farmer training programs.

Post Workshop Support: Follow-up networking, mentoring and support in developing, modifying and expanding women in ag programs will be available to all participants who seek it.

Sponsors & Funding: This workshop is part of the “21st Century Management: Enhancing Educational Programming for Beginning Women Farmers and Ranchers” project, funded by the USDA Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Development Program. Additional support was provided by the eXtension Foundation.
