Emily Manetta’s new article, written with collaborator Vera Gribanova of Stanford, entitled “Ellipsis in wh-in-situ languages: deriving apparent sluicing in Hindi-Urdu and Uzbek” has been accepted to appear later this year in Linguistic Inquiry. The article emerges from original fieldwork with both Hindi-Urdu and Uzbek speakers and calls for revisions in crosslinguistic generalizations concerning patters of sluicing.
