Is it SF?

The War of the Worlds fits into almost all definitions of ‘science fiction.’ Not only is evolution a key thematic element, the advancement of the Martians has led to highly-technical war machines that seem to imitate life almost perfectly. The novel also remarks on social and scientific advancements relative to the Victoria society, creating allusions withint the novel to actual events that occurred that the Victorian audience would be aware of. Because of the discussion of social/political issues, science, technology, and extraterrestrial-life, most would agree that War of the Worlds is indeed a work of science fiction.
