Data and Analysis |Literature Review: Swimming by Space | Introduction | Swimming through Childhood- Katrina Tracy | Swimming through Childhood Conclusion
Thinking about childhood over time, something that we had not read about much in class was swimming. At first I just thought it would be interested to look at swimming as an activity that children would do for as a middle-class activity in school. However I learned that swimming as an activity for children was a lot more complex and showed a lot more about society than I had initially thought. I conducted research based upon the questions of who was swimming? Were girls swimming? Where were they swimming?
Through my research I perused through many primary sources about opinions and data on swimming, as well as scholarly research as to what it meant to be swimming in the 19th century and how it related to childhood.
