VT USDA Pathways Internship Openings-Apply by Nov. 9th!

Good morning,

Check out the Soil Scientist Pathways (federal government internship program) position referenced below! These positions rarely open in VT so if you’re interested in an internship during your academic semesters that could possibly turn into a full time job after graduation, act now! Deadline is Thursday, Nov. 9th and if you’ll need to apply through the USAJOBS website. Two USDA Pathways Student opportunities just opened up in Vermont–one for a Soil Scientist and one for an Engineer. The deadline to apply is Thursday, November 9th! Make sure to select VERMONT as your preferred location as there are several openings throughout the country. For the Soil Scientist: Candidates selected from this announcement may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a term or permanent position in the competitive service provided that all terms of the Internship Program are met and there is an available position. Conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed and is at agency discretion.

Pathways Interns may convert to permanent or TERM positions in the same line of work they were initially appointed (Soil Scientist, GS-0470-5/7/9). To be eligible for the conversion, you must satisfactorily complete all Pathways Program requirements: complete at least 640 hours of work experience prior to graduation, and if applicable, meet the position’s positive education requirements at graduation. The education requirements that must be met for conversion from this position:
Degree: soil science or a closely related discipline that included 30 semester hours or equivalent in biological, physical, or earth science, with a minimum of 15 semester hours in such subjects as soil genesis, pedology, soil chemistry, soil physics, and soil fertility.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience courses equivalent to a major in soil science or a related discipline that included at least 30 semester hours in the biological, physical, or earth sciences. At least 15 of these semester hours must have been in the areas specified above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
