Paid Summer Water Quality Technician position

Seeking 1 Water Quality Technician (MOB Environmental)
This position will work with another WQ Stormwater Technician Summer Temp to support the work efforts noted under our Federal Highway Work Program and to maintain compliance with Federal Clean Water Act NPDES MS4 Permits.

Over the last years the Agency of Transportation has been working throughout the state to locate, inspect and GPS inventory culvert and stormwater collection, conveyance and treatment systems in our state highway rights-of-way. This effort is critical to the asset management efforts of the Highway Division and its EPA Clean Water Act obligations. More specifically, the Agency has been mapping stormwater infrastructure within our Clean Water Act stormwater regulated region. This position will re-inspect and re-map drainage features/structures such as small culverts, drop inlets, catch basins, and swales in some of our regulated areas of Chittenden County.

These positions will be stationed at the National Life Complex in Montpelier, VT and the intent is for these positions to work as a team. Duties will primarily be performed in the field along State-owned highways with limited work performed in a standard office setting and will require daily travel due to the nature of the work for which a state vehicle will be provided for use while on the job. This work also requires the ability to traverse rough terrain alongside the state highway for long durations of time. Candidate should be comfortable with the use of Microsoft suite and preferably the ability to navigate using a mobile device such as an iPad.

This is a full time summer position that can start as early as May 14 and end as late as September 30th.
