An AmeriCorps position offered through the Oregon State Service Corps.

Dates of Service:
September 3, 2013-July 31, 2014 (1700 hours over 11 months)

The Learning Garden Educator will support the campus Sustainability Office by leading educational activities for the Learning Garden, solid waste, recycling and composting efforts, and other related sustainability projects. The Learning Garden includes 51 raised beds (for food service and community members), two acres for row crops, a cob tool shed with solar powered irrigation, earthen oven with a green roof, fruit trees, blueberries, plots for an organic gardening class and the childcare center, plus public art pieces throughout. Recruiting, training and supervising service learning students, PCC club members, community and PCC volunteers in support of the garden, will be a key component of the job. Additionally, the Learning Garden Educator will lead efforts to develop new hunger relief efforts and expand the Learning Garden’s impact.
