As a water resources outreach professional, I feel the most passionate about work that engages the public in scientific research and empowers them to understand water conditions, to effectively respond to problems and to be resilient to changing conditions.
My research has included assessing impacts of land use on water quality, comparing volunteer to professional water monitoring methods, and assessing outcomes of volunteer water monitoring and other citizen science programs. Here at the University of Vermont, I continue to engage in outreach and research that integrate public engagement with water resources knowledge and social action. I am especially interested in reaching traditionally underserved audiences, and in evaluating outcomes of social marketing campaigns on attitudes and behaviors.
