Picking Up Paychecks

A  number of you have unclaimed paychecks in the Learning Co-op.   We want to be sure you are paid for your work, so you have two options:

#2: You can come pick it up.  If you are still in the Burlington area, you can drop in to the Co-op and pick up your check.  The Co-op will be open 8:30-5:00 Monday through Friday through the month of June.  We typically close during the lunch hour (12:00-1:00) but you can drop in any other time.

#3: We can mail the check to you.  If you don’t have direct deposit and can’t stop in, we will put the check in the mail to you.  Send me the address to which you would like the check sent and we will get it in the mail for you.

Please make arrangements to pick up your check or have it mailed by May 31.  Thanks!

Farewell!

Dear Tutors,

The past two years have been an extraordinary time for me, and I have loved my position as the Tutor Program Coordinator and the opportunity to work with all of you amazing people.  As you may know, I have chosen to start a PhD program in literature at Rice University in the Fall of 2012 and will not be returning as your supervisor next semester.  If I could fly in from Houston every morning to work with you lovely people, I’d totally do it.

Before leaving at the semester’s end, I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank all of you for your hard work and dedication to the Subject-Area Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction programs in the last two years.  Though it might be trite to say, many of the services we provide in the Learning Co-op simply would not be possible without you.  We are lucky to have a group of UVM’s best and brightest committed to building an academic community through peer-assisted learning.  This isn’t something you’ll see on every university campus, and I hope you take pride in your work.  You should; I certainly do.

I would like to take a moment to let you know what to expect as a new Tutor Coordinator is hired and as tutoring begins for the Fall semester.  Our semesterly All-Tutor Meeting for Fall 2012 is scheduled for Monday, September 3 from 7:00-9:00 pm in L/L CM 315– mark your calendars now!  Your attendance at this meeting is MANDATORY if you wish to continue tutoring during the 2012-2013 academic year. You will not need to re-apply for your position, but you will not be added to our list of active tutors until you have completed an online policy reminder survey and attended the Fall meeting.  Since you will all need to complete new HR paperwork with your new supervisor, you have added, monetary incentive to attend =)

To all of you folks graduating in a few weeks, congratulations!  Best of luck with all of your future endeavors.  For those of you returning to UVM in the Fall, I know you too will go on to do amazing things during your time here and upon your graduation.  Whatever your plans for next year, TWO things.  One: Stay in touch!  I want to hear about what you’re doing.  Two: I’m happy to be listed as a reference or to write letters of recommendation (with enough heads up!) .  You can find me on LinkedIn or send an email to my gmail account: rachelbconrad@gmail.com.

Please stop in and say goodbye if you can before leaving for the summer!  I’m going to miss you.  Best of luck on all your end of the semester responsibilities.

All my best,
Rachel

Happy Last Day of Classes!

Hello, Tutors–

A few last minute reminders as the semester comes to a close.

TODAY is the last day of tutoring.  You may not schedule any tutoring appointments through the Learning Co-op after today.

The next deadline for payroll approval is Sunday, May 13.  Please be sure to have all of your hours for the semester entered by this date.  Paychecks will be issued Friday May 4 and Friday May 18.  Please make sure to pick up your paychecks before leaving campus.  If you will have left campus before the last check is issued, please let me know and we can work out a way for it to be mailed to you.

If you’ll be a round for the summer and would like to do some tutoring, let me know.  We post our list of summer tutors on the Learning Co-op website.  Students will contact you directly to set-up private tutoring: you set your own hours and rate of pay.

We are celebrating all of your hard work tomorrow from 2:00-4:00 pm in the L/L Fireplace Lounge.  There is free food, games, healing touch, and special recognition for seniors.  Please RSVP so we can be prepared and stop in tomorrow.  We want to see you and say goodbye before you leave for the summer!
