Introduction To Acting

Posted: January 31st, 2012 by speebles

I’m taking Introduction to Acting at the Royal Tyler Theater at 10:00 in the morning. The instructor tells us to get into a circle in the middle of the room. During this time I feel totally calm and peaceful when I’m in the circle doing acting warm ups. The other fun activity we do is mincing vocals from the instructor. The instructor is totally neat, and he seems to be really cool.  This was my first impression I had of my acting instructor.

The first assignment he gave to us was a handout on Contraction, and I thought that was a very interesting reading assignment.  It was totally helpful to understand that actors need to have a deep contraction.

The New Rap Star of Think College

I entered a video contest called Shanken and Stirred. I decided to sing a rap song, because I wasn’t allowed to use copy written music for my video. The video was about having fun without drinking. I came up with a funny rap song and it was a real hoot. This is the rap song I wrote for my video.

Yoooooooooooooo I’m Stirling Peebles I’m a student at uvm.
When the weekend comes I don’t need alcohol cause I’m starting a brand new trend!

When the sun goes down I’m dancing in the streets singing to my favorite beats (wait…the vegetable?)
Racquetball, dancing, playing pool- all these activities are really cool!
I dont need beer so my head stays clear
I don’t need a shot cause my brain might rot (what about jello!?)

On a Friday night I have spaghetti and meatballs and I throw it against my kitchen walls!
This is my life, it sounds really cool, yo
Even without alcohol! And I don’t look like a fool !!!!!!!!

As I sang my rap song I had some of my mentors and the Think College Program Manager dancing behind me. I had a lot of fun rapping in the video and it was really cool.

The New Actor

I’m interested in taking Introduction to Acting, because it sounds like a great class to take.  I want to act in my own TV show someday, and it sounds like fun. It would help to take an acting class, so I know what I’m doing.  This class should be exciting and it’s not going to be dull.  This sounds like a great chance for me to get into film and TV acting.  Oh let’s not forget I’m very funny.

Being a UVM student

Posted: September 28th, 2011 by speebles

What was your favorite thing you saw or did today?

I really liked taking the bus by myself because it made me feel like a real college student.  I thought that was very cool and it was a lot of fun.  My phone has music on it and I was listening to it as we drove to Burlington.  This was a fun part of my day and and I can’t wait until I do that.

I had lunch on the Redstone campus and I’m doing that with Amanda.  It is a nice campus and it’s very interesting place to hangout.

Looking cool

The First day of UVM

Posted: September 9th, 2011 by speebles

I’m taking a class called written Expressions and it’s a class for freshmen and I hope the class is fun.  I really like my professor and she seems very cool.   The professor went over the syllabus for the class and every student in class read a line out loud to everyone.  I thought that was a fun way to start off the class.  There are only 20 students in Written Expressions and they are all freshmen.  I get my weekly assignments on Blackboard and that is pretty neat.  Most of you are wondering what is “Blackboard”?  This is not the blackboard we knew from school. A Blackboard used on college and universities are web pages.  This is where you take an online class and it goes straight to the professor of the class.

While in class the professor handed out a student questionnaire and everyone filled it out.  Everyone had to share a few things about themselves to the other students.  I was brave enough to share personal information about myself and I felt good about it.  After class I walked over to the Waterman cafe and it’s a nice place to hang out to have a snack.  This is where we talk about how the class went and we discussed the questionnaire I filled out.  Later in the day I took the campus bus to the Patrick gym because I was taking a yoga class and I thought it was fun.  I thought the instructor was nice and he gave me a compliment on my yoga stance. I did yoga for 45 minutes and that was really cool.  My first day at UVM was great and awesome. This is going to be an interesting adventure and it’s going to be a lot of fun blogging about it.

The Orientation Weekend

Posted: September 9th, 2011 by speebles

On Saturday I went to my first college orientation at the Davis Center on the University of Vermont campus.  The Davis center seems very cool and it’s going to be a fun place to hang out on campus.  The Davis center is the biggest building on campus.  The Davis center has the UVM TV station and I hope I spend some time in there.  It also has two food cafes and I hope they have great food in them.  I felt very excited about my first orientation and I also felt nervous.  During the orientation my stomach was doing flip flops.

The orientation was fun and I got to meet my mentors and that was very cool I thought.  I have four mentors on my UVM team and I rally like them.  Some of the mentors and I were talking about how I meet Charles Shaughnessy and other actors over the years.  I had fun talking to my mentors and I got to know them better.  The mentors seem very nice and they seem very cool.

During the orientation many of us went to the basement of the Davis center and we got our “official” student Id’s.  I finally got my picture taken and it’s a good one.  A minute later the guy gives me my official Id.  At that moment I felt awesome and very excited about starting UVM.  I thought it was very cool and very awesome.

As a part of the orientation we talked about safety and how to stay safe on campus.  The UVM campus has a blue light system and when you press it the police come in two minutes.  I thought that was a very interesting face to know.  We also talked about drinking, sexual Harassment and sexual assault.  I gave the basic definition what is sexual assault.  During this part of the conversation we talked about consent.

After the orientation was done my roommate and I decided to explore the campus a little bit.  The UVM campus is really big and I never knew that until I went to my first orientation.  We walked over to the Royal Tyler Theater because my class is taken place right next to it.  I had fun exploring the campus and I can do it myself this week.  I’m taking a class called Written Expressions and the class should be a lot of fun. I have a feeling this class is not going to be dull or boring at all.  I’m very exited to be taking this class and it’s going to be cool.
