Artist Statement
I believe the pieces above do their best to display the kind of empathy that I and many other Rubenstein students feel for the environment. A beg for action and a proclamation for the importance of the environment around us are only two of the ways we can communicate this empathy. These pieces tie closely to my identity as a Rubenstein because of my experience as a Vermont transplant and someone that has trouble identifying “home”. Collage has been a medium that I’ve found comforting because I am able to pull artifacts of my life from places I’ve lived in order to create a cohesive piece. That process helps to establish a complicated mosaic that works to ground me in my ever changing sense of place.
