Introduction

Centennial Woods is nestled just between UVM’s Athletic and Trinity campuses. In particular, I chose to focus on a little spot nestled just beyond the entrance, to the right of the first “caution: poison ivy” sign. The spot can be found down a small trail which opens up to a boulder by the stream that runs its way through the woods. I chose this place because it was an accessible walk from campus, and has a lot of natural beauty and value. I wanted to choose a place that I would want to spend time at even without this assignment, as scenic and secluded outdoor spaces on or near campus are hard to come by.

The focal spot in Centennial where I focused my research.
