Qualitative Research Methods — Syllabus and Schedule

14 Jan

Sharing this because it’s somewhat unusual to have an intermediate-level undergraduate course on Qualitative Methods in Geography. This semester (Spring 2019) I’m teaching it as a cross-list between Geography (GEOG186); Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies (GSWS196); and Anthropology (ANTH196), which has presented some terrific interdisciplinary opportunities, especially vis-a-vis the reading list.

The class is also “SL” — Service Learning, which will involve a semester-long project for the students who will collect information and curate a website on all types of qualitative research being done around UVM campus (Arts & Sciences, Natural Resources, Nursing & Health Sciences, Med school, Ag school, Business school, even Engineering!), by profiling faculty and grad students who use various methods. The website will also serve as a portal for existing resources for researchers. Excited to get started!
