When I was home for spring break I decided to go to Castle Valley Park. Compared to Centennial Woods, Castle Valley has a creek running through it so the water moves much faster/rough than Centennial’s Brook. Castle Valley is also much smaller (3.8 acres) than Centennial and has much fewer varieties of trees. Most of the trees at Castle Valley are Striped Maples. Castle Valley also has a part of the Neshaminy Creek that is calmer which is good for fishing. It is also a part of the Neshaminy Creek Watershed Rivers Conservation Project. The stream bank has been cleaned up and 100 tree saplings have been planted. There were not many visible animal tracks due to it being very muddy; most tracks were destroyed. Although, I saw a couple deer tracks. Centennial seems to have much more animal tracks and visible birds. Contrarily, there aren’t any fish in the brook at Centennial like there are at Castle Valley. Another difference is that the park has a couple of picnic benches for the community to use whereas Centennial does not. A similarity can include that both places have steps/bridges leading down to the water.
