Introduction to my Place

About my site:

  • It’s buggy
  • You can hear the water
  • The ground is muddy and covered in grass, pine needles, and dead leaves
  • My specific spot is the rock covered in moss

This is the rock

This is the muddy ground

Facing the rock:

  • Left: the path continues and there is a tree with it’s bark torn off
  • Right: there are sugar maple saplings, paper birch, and eastern white pine trees
  • Front: there are not as many trees, more saplings, ferns, and fallen branches
  • Behind: there are ferns, pine trees, sugar maple saplings, and honeysuckle

How to get to my spot:

  1. Enter centennial woods by the sign and pass the bulletin board
  2. Follow the path, there will be a fallen tree overhead to duck under
  3. You will turn slightly right to continue following the path
  4. As you go down a slight slope you will cross over about five wooden logs acting as small steps on the path
  5. You will notice you are getting deeper into the woods as it is less bright and harder to see the sky when you look up
  6. You will then arrive at a clearing surrounding by pine trees, follow the path left
  7. The path will become narrower
  8. You will pass a tree whose bark has partially fallen off on your right
  9. You will reach a short boardwalk
  10. Towards the end of the boardwalk, on your right is a rock covered in moss
  11. Feel free to look at it as you have reached my spot

My Experience:

Overall, sitting on the boardwalk and examining the environment around me was a calming experience. I could hear the nearby stream, birds chirping, and leaves falling down. It was refreshing as it isn’t deep into the woods, but far enough away to feel surrounded. The view to the left and right was kind of dark which was nice, and looking straight ahead was more open. There is a big pine tree in front of me to the right which feels protective. It’s quiet, with not too many travelers. It is also buggy after sitting for a while.
