Debate: Vermont Yankee, Shut it Down or Keep it Running?

On February 24, 2011, the Janus Forum hosted a debate about the future Vermont Yankee, a nuclear power plant housed in Vermont. This debate featured Howard Shaffer, Arnie Gunderson, and Emerson Lynn.  Howard Shaffer has been an active member of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) for over three decades. He contributes regularly to the ANS’s regulatory and public information committees and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Arnie Gunderson is a chief engineer at Fairewinds Associates’ and regularly gives testimony to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on radiation and nuclear safety issues.
