Debate: Buy Local or Global?

On October 29, 2008, the Janus Forum held a debate on whether to buy locally or globally produced consumer goods. This debate featured Bill McKibben and Russ Roberts. Bill McKibben is an American environmentalist and aRight Livelihood Prize awardee known for his book The End of Nature. He is currently the Schumann Distinguished Scholar in Environmental Studies at Middlebury College. Russ Roberts currently serves as the John and Jean De Nault Research Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. Roberts has published a number of books on the economics of trade and hosts a successful podcast titled EconTalk.
