ATTN SENIORS – Society for Wilderness Stewardship Wilderness Fellow Positions

The Wilderness Fellows Program of the United States Forest Service (USFS), Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute, and the Society for Wilderness Stewardship is now recruiting students. I am requesting your assistance in sharing information about this opportunity to students in your department.

Wilderness Fellows will be stationed on National Forests where they will work with district and forest staff to implement a new wilderness stewardship inventory and monitoring initiative that will fulfill components of the ‘Wilderness Character Baseline’ element in the USFS Wilderness Stewardship Performance Measures. We anticipate filling ten positions based in varied locations across the country.

Students interested in federal land management will gain valuable experience and the opportunity to work alongside USFS personnel.

Please distribute the attached position description widely. Questions and interest can be sent to me (contact information is below). Positions are open until filled, with applicant review beginning March 10.

Thank you,

Heather MacSlarrow
