Experiential Learning & Job Opportunities

Short-term paid research experience

This short term opportunity may be of interest to some of you.  –Anna

The Center for Rural Studies is a research center on campus that works with people and communities to address social, economic, and resource-based challenges through applied research, community outreach, program evaluation, and consulting.

We will be conducting a phone survey of Vermont residents on issues related to GMO labelling and pharmaceutical disposal and we are looking for phone callers. The phone survey should go on for about a week starting October 17 and we would ask that you commit to at least 4 shifts. Shifts are: Monday through Thursday: 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, and Sunday 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The pay is $13/hour. No experience with conducting phone surveys is required but we are looking for people comfortable on the phone and for people who have gone through the UVM IRB training or are willing to go through IRB training. We are partnering with a local staffing agency and the hiring will be done through the agency not through UVM.
