JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

 Environmental Assistant (EA) B and/or C (Fisheries):

Applications are being accepted for 2 full-time, seasonal Environmental Assistant  (Fisheries Technician)  positions based in the Rutland Office. Duration of employment  will be no longer than April 18 to November 18, 2016.  Starting and ending dates are negotiable.

 Summary of Duties:

These seasonal positions will be involved in netting, tagging, and tracking lake sturgeon, a state listed endangered species, on Lake Champlain and its tributaries. This may require working long hours and working in inclement weather. These positions will also be involved in a variety of other fisheries tasks. These tasks, carried out as part of a crew or independently, may include fish population sampling by electrofishing and netting, fish stocking, creel surveys, habitat surveys, data entry, laboratory work, office work, equipment maintenance and repair, etc. Duties are often performed outdoors and may involve long hours, night-time and weekend work, and demanding physical labor. C-level positions involve some exercise of leadership and greater independence of action.   

 Minimum Qualifications for Environmental Assistant (Fisheries):

 Education B and C:             High school diploma.

Education B:                                      Satisfactory completion of at least two semesters in an undergraduate program of environmentally-related studies with coursework relevant to the specific job duties.

Education C:                                      Satisfactory completion of at least four semesters in an undergraduate program of environmentally-related studies with coursework relevant to the specific job duties.

 Experience B:                                     At least six months of work experience relevant to specific job duties.

Experience C:                                     At least one year of work experience relevant to specific job duties.

 Note:                                   Additional relevant undergraduate education may be substituted for work experience on the  basis of one semester for six months of work experience.  Additional work experience relevant to the specific job duties may be substituted for undergraduate education on the basis of six months per one semester.

 Requirements: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license and private means of transportation to the duty station are required. 

 Salary:  Environmental Assistant B: $12.73 per hour   (Pay grade 13) with a maximum of 40 hours/week

Environmental Assistant C: $13.97 per hour   (Pay grade 15) with a maximum of 40 hours/week
