What action steps can Vermonters take to meet the organics diversion mandate in Vermont’s new Universal Recycling Law, Act 148? At this year’s Summit you will find out about successful programs and learn about opportunities for organics diversion, collection and composting that can work in your community and throughout the state. This one day event includes six workshops: Building Infrastructure Town by Town: Low Tech Options Maintaining Compost Quality Case Studies of Successful Collections Programs Reduction and Source Separation at Schools, Grocery Stores & Resorts Heat Capture and Recovery from Composting Compost and Climate Change: Using Compost to Sequester Carbon & Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions The day will also include two hands-on demonstrations: We are pleased to have Sally Brown, Ph.D. from the University of Washington as our Keynote speaker. Dr. Brown is a Research Associate Professor in the College of Forest Resources, a prolific writer, guest speaker, presenter, and a regular columnist for BioCycle.
