VOLUNTEER: Compost Crew Members needed for June Orientation

Hey Students!

Hanging around Burlington in June?  UVM Recycling is looking for a core team to help with Compost & Recycling during Summer Orientation which happens in June.  Your help is needed at the outdoor meals under the “big tent”  which are served to incoming students and parents.  This is their first introduction to how UVM sorts recycling and composting … so having other students show them how is key. Here are the details:

We need 3-4 students to fill each shift.   You will help set up the recycling, compost and trash barrels at the tent site. You will monitor the trash throughout the meal, talk with new students and parents about how to recycle and compost, and then clean up, empty and remove all bags and roll these to dumpsters on site. You will be working alongside the Orientation Leaders and the UVM Dining Services staff and be part of the orientation “community.”

For each lunch and dinner shift you work, you will get paid for 2 hours. For brunch, you will get paid for 2.5 hours, or you can work a ‘double’ brunch if you are available (5 hrs).  Each shift you will receive a complimentary meal as well.

Please SIGN UP NOW on VolunteerSpot and tell us the specific dates and times you can work.   Please check your calendars (other jobs, classes, travel plans) carefully and only sign up for shifts that you know for sure you are available.

Please reply by Friday, May 17 so we can begin filling in the June schedule.
