VOLUNTEER: Plant Trees in the Old North End, Saturday 4/27

Trees, trees, trees!!!!!

Join us Saturday, April 27th for a community tree planting event! We will be planting 14 large shade trees (~15 feet tall, 2.5-3 in. caliper) on Cedar, Rose, and Lafountain Streets in the Old North End and need volunteers to help dig holes and plant the trees.  The event will begin at 9am at the corner of Rose & Cedar Streets.  No experience necessary (we’ll do a planting demo) and all ages are welcome.  Wear work gloves and bring a shovel if you have one.

This event is made possible by funding through the TD Green Streets Program, a partnership between TD Bank and the Arbor Day Foundation.  The Burlington Parks & Recreation Department was awarded a $20,000 grant to support innovative practices in urban forestry and this community tree planting is the kick-off for the grant period. Volunteers from Branch Out Burlington, TD Bank, and the neighborhood will be there — will you?

Volunteers please register with Elise.Schadler@uvm.edu.
