Catamounts Care ReSOURCE VT Day of Service

Catamounts Care ReSOURCE VT Day of Service

When: Saturday, December 1 2012, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Location: 266 Pine Street Burlington, VT
Categories: Service, UVM Program Board

Catamounts Care! UVM Department of Leadership & Civic Engagement is now providing service events open to all UVM students, faculty, and alumni.

Be an Environmental steward with ReSOURCE VT! This is an excellent opportunity to be hands-on helping your community while reducing waste. Transportation will be provided to and from the Davis Center on campus.

ReSOURCE needs the help of volunteers to process donated or salvaged lumber for resale. In turn, the local community gains access to quality affordable building materials. Volunteers can help out in the store or work on special projects – from sorting through donations in the Household Goods Store, to pulling nails from old boards at the Building Materials Store, to sharing skills with staff and trainees in the Youth Build Program.
ReSOURCE works to address environmental concerns by collecting donations of usable lumber, doors, cabinetry, and hardware. Construction debris accounts for more than 30% of the material in our landfills. As these materials degrade, they release gases, CO2 being one of the more prevalent. You can help ReSOURCE decrease waste and carbon emissions through the salvage and resale of construction materials.

ReSOURCE is a nonprofit community enterprise dedicated to improving our environment, providing job-skills training to youth and adults, and working with communities to improve lives and help people succeed.
