About
Hi there! I’m Lizzy and I chose an interesting spot along the Winooski River near Salmon Hole. During parent’s weekend, my family and I went out for breakfast in Winooski, and took a walk along the river afterwards. We had just learned about watersheds and runoff, so I thought it would be interesting to track the phenology of a body of water to see how it would change throughout the seasons. I also wanted somewhere that reminded me of where I’m from, Wisconsin, and this spot did just the trick with the bluff-like rock formations, water features, and forested greenery. Sitting down in the spot, it was very relaxing with the sounds of running water, and I thought it would be nice to sit and observe in the future.
Navigation

To get there, you can either walk north from campus until you get to Downtown Winooski (about a 45 minute walk) or take the 2 bus from the Medical Center, then get off at West Canal Street. Then, navigate to the north bank of the river, west of the bridge.
Vegitation
The vegitation at my site is relatively sparse because of the rocky landscape along the shore, but there are a few shrubs, conifers, and grasses.
- Alder Buckthorn
- Elm
- Ash
- Heart-Leaved Willow
