This time of year can be rough in Vermont. It’s supposed to be Spring – but it doesn’t always feel that way. It’s been a long academic year and it’s easy and common to lose motivation, feel tired and stressed out, and wonder if you’re even on the right track. First off – know you are not alone. Perhaps a good guideline would be: Don’t make any big life decision during Mud Season in Vermont.
It’s more important than ever to double down on self-care and healthy habits. There have been numerous studies in the workplace showing that positive employee health and well-being correspond with increased productivity, engagement, creativity and innovation. Most employers state that it’s important to establish a culture of health and they’re putting money into wellness programs, staff and incentives. The rest of us can follow their lead, because wouldn’t we all like to have increased productivity and creativity right about now?
So here are some wellness tips from corporate America to get you through these last few weeks of school:
- Take care of your physical health: sleep, exercise and eat enough – maybe take a nap. You may feel like it’s hard to make the time – but you’ll be more productive and positive when you’re rested and you’ve been active.
- Take a break. Have some fun. There’s plenty happening on-campus: Bored Calendar.
- Relax your mind. Check out the Mind-Body Wellness Programs!
- Spend time with friends who are tending to their wellbeing and you might feel better too. Norms and attitudes are contagious, wellbeing is transmittable.
Finally, tend to your Career Wellbeing – yes, that’s a thing. Do you feel like you know where you’re headed? Do you have a goal that get’s you out of bed in the morning?
