Where did you go? What do you encounter? How was your experience recording observations using the iNaturalist app? (Include images).
I visited Centennial woods for this assignment, encountering a surprisingly low amount of wildlife signs.
I saw two main wildlife signs: small rodent tracks, and bird calls
The rodent tracks appeared to be red squirrel tracks. but this is a guess because the snow had been melting and the tracks were somewhat vague
The bird calls were crows, or a related species since I was able to see large flocks of them overhead
I uploaded both onto iNaturalist, but I found it annoying that I had to provide all the information when iNaturalist is normally supposed to help you identify
Tracks:
I began narrowing down my identification by looking at how close the front and hind legs were
The hind feet were in front of the front feet, making the animal a bounder
I then looked at the size of the tracks to see which rodent it could be, in this case the only option was the red squirrel since the tracks were too large for the mice/voles and too small for the grey squirrel
Birds:
I do not know bird calls
I saw large flocks of black birds overhead and I assumed they were the ones making the noises that sounded like crows
