{"id":178,"date":"2015-10-05T16:09:22","date_gmt":"2015-10-05T20:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/vlbrenna-sound2015\/?page_id=178"},"modified":"2015-10-05T16:09:22","modified_gmt":"2015-10-05T20:09:22","slug":"trailer-aka-research-report","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/vlbrenna-sound2015\/assignments\/podcast-2-the-sound-object-project\/trailer-aka-research-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Trailer (aka Research Report)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The goal of this assignment is to create a brief overview of your research that is designed to report on what your podcast will be about.<\/p>\n<p>Your research report must include three components:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>E<\/strong><strong>ach report should begin with a short (approx. one-minute long) oral statement of your research. <\/strong>Think of this as a one-minute \u201celevator\u201d or \u201cdinner conversation\u201d version of your research project. That is, you should be able to convey the topic and questions that you are investigating in a way that engages the listener in your project. Imagine you are explaining it to your parents over dinner, or to a friend when you run into each other in the Davis Center. Instead of summarizing your research you should instead focus in on a key point and\/or example that demonstrates the issues you will address in the podcast.<\/li>\n<li>Include an <strong>example of a sound<\/strong> that exemplifies the key issues you are studying through your research. Be sure to explain how the sound relates to your research questions and preliminary findings.<\/li>\n<li>Post an<strong> image or graphic<\/strong> to the blog that communicates what you think is the most important point of your research.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Formatting:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Include a title for your report that encapsulates your statement in no more than FIVE words!<\/li>\n<li>If you cite any of your sources in your report you must include a bibliography that lists those sources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Post your trailer to the blog by\u00a0<strong><em>Friday, October 30 by 11:59 pm.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The goal of this assignment is to create a brief overview of your research that is designed to report on what your podcast will be about.
