My Place: Redstone Quarry
To get to Redstone Quarry, starting by facing at Wing Davis Wilks and going to your right until you reach South Prospect Street. Turn left and walk until you reach Ledge Street and turn right. Walk downhill on Ledge Street and turn left when you reach Shelburne Street. Walk until you reach Hoover Street and turn left. Walk up the street until you reach the end and explore! The walk takes about twenty minutes and is mostly downhill on the way there.
I chose Redstone Quarry because when looking up the options they recommended, I was most intrigued by Redstone Quarry because in Google Images there were some pictures of old mining equipment. Also, it looked very pretty and was close to campus.
Flora
The vegetation at Redstone Quarry is varied and its placement is greatly impacted by the structure of the rocks. Trees grow out of cracks in the rocks, both on the ground and the rock face. On the rocks, you can see succession taking place at different stages. Moss grows everywhere on the ground, and where there are cracks a plant called white stone crop grows. Some areas have developed soil so trees and ferns grow. There is an area of flat rock where juvenile lichen is abundant.

- Norway Maple
- Buckthorn
