 Francine Faucher<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Assistive Technology Program, federally   funded, in  Department of Aging &amp; Independent Living, in Agency  of Human Services<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Computers have built in accessibility  features.\u00a0 Can try those before moving on to more sophisticated  software and devices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Mr. Gilman described and demonstrated  built-in technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">In Windows 7, have folder, \u201cEase  of Access\u201d, with four big features.\u00a0 And can go into Control  Panel, find screen for Ease of Access, with speech recognition and  Access  Center.\u00a0 Tutorial and settings recommendations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Keyboard features: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Sticky keys:\u00a0\u00a0 for limited  dexterity typists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">[On Mac, in System Preferences, have  Universal Access settings for \u201dSeeing, Hearing, Keyboard, Mouse and  Trackpad\u201d.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Magnifier for screen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Icons in lower right of screen for  status.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Narrator.\u00a0 Speaks each keystroke,  for confirmation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">High\u00a0 Contrast<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Speech Recognition\u2014controlling computer   without mouse or keyboard.\u00a0 Built in in Windows 7 is better than  previous, but still not as sophisticated or user friendly intuitive  as commercial versions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Navigation by voice, using \u201cMousegrid\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Using the on-screen keyboard to type.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">Handout included links to Microsoft  tutorials for use of the Windows access features, including videos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/enable\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;color: #0000ff;font-size: small\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">www.microsoft.com\/enable<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/enable\/demos\" target=\"_blank\">www.microsoft.com\/enable\/demos<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/enable\/training\/windows7\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;color: #0000ff;font-size: small\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">www.microsoft.com\/enable\/training\/windows7<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\">There are also videos for the MAC  Universal  Accessibility features, at<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Cambria;font-size: small\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/education\/specia-educaton\" target=\"_blank\">www.apple.com\/education\/specia-educaton<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Session 314\u00a0Computer Accessibility for All Dan Gilman &amp;
