{"id":2,"date":"2010-05-14T13:48:41","date_gmt":"2010-05-14T13:48:41","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-05-14T10:08:29","modified_gmt":"2010-05-14T14:08:29","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/udl-2010conference\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Vermont, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Project  invites you to attend &#8220;Better Learning by Design.&#8221; This three-day  conference gathers nationally known experts and offers the opportunity  to become knowledgeable in the theory and application of UDL principles.<\/p>\n<p>As defined by The Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008, UDL is &#8220;a  scientifically valid framework for guiding educational practice that  provides for flexibility in the ways:<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Information is presented<\/li>\n<li> Students respond or demonstrate knowledge and skills, and<\/li>\n<li> Students are engaged in the content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>UDL practices reduce the barriers in instruction, provide appropriate  accommodations, supports, and challenges, and maintain high achievement  expectations for all students, including students with disabilities and  students who are limited English proficient.
