Living in Vermont offers me an unusual view of the national political scene: things happen politically in this state\u00a0that, according to the received wisdom in\u00a0most of the rest of the country, shouldn&#8217;t be possible . (And I know the political innovation in Vermont is not just because we&#8217;re a bunch of Birkenstock-wearing hippies.)
