Library Thing

A new social networking site my friends, Ines and Steve, started using is called, Library Thing. I signed up it so I could poke around. It’s pretty neat. You can put in some obscure book titles and see who else tagged them and linked to them. I am hbparker, see if you can find me. http://librarything.com

I was looking at resources for the Colleague Tea today and I came across a site created by Fred Stutzman, a PhD student at Chapel Hill. He is doing his research on social networking. I can’t wait to look over the site in depth. Justin mentioned that he has a tool on the site called ClaimID that allows you to put all of your social networking information in one place. Check it out! It’s amazing.

I asked all the TechCATs students to attend the tea tomorrow on Social Networking. I will be co-faciliating it with Steve Cavrak from Academic Computing. We are looking forward to discussing the tools like Delicious and Facebook, and blogging and how they are used in Academia. See you tomorrow at 3:30pm in Bailey/Howe 303.
