They are Speech and Morality (Oxford 2016) and The Normative Web (Oxford 2007). My book Ritualized Faith (Oxford 2016) is a collection of my essays on ritualized religious activity, especially within the Eastern Christian tradition. In my view, it’s a topic that is both fascinating and under-explored by philosophers.

More recently, I’ve published three books. The first is a short book on Thomas Reid’s ethical theory entitled Thomas Reid on the Ethical Life (Cambridge, 2020). The other two books, Philosophical Methodology (Oxford, 2022) and The Moral Universe (Oxford, 2024), are the fruit of a long collaboration with John Bengson (University of Texas, Austin) and Russ Shafer-Landau (University of Wisconsin, Madison). The three of us are presently working on a third book, Grasping Morality (Oxford, forthcoming), which is primarily dedicated to issues in moral epistemology. Together with The Moral Universe, this book represents our attempt to develop a non-naturalist, realist metaethical theory.

I’ve also edited a variety of books, including three volumes of my teacher Nick Wolterstorff’s papers.

You can find an interview 3am Magazine did with me here

My primary research interests are in moral philosophy, history of modern philosophy, and philosophy of religion.
