They don&#8217;t integrate. (There&#8217;s actually a 3rd one with the University aka uvm.edu without the med, but that easily <a href=\"http:\/\/med.uvm.edu\/techservices\/accountinformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">forwards to the College of Medicine email<\/a>.) Having two separate inboxes is kind of a pain but is somewhat manageable. Having two separate calendars is nonsense. I use my College of Medicine email as my primary and only calendar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To keep my hospital calendar from being used accidentally by well-meaning people trying to send me calendar invites, I set up a rule in my hospital Outlook account that automatically sends a reply to all calendar invitations. This reply says that the invite was deleted and to send the invite to my College of Medicine account instead. Works like a charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s how I did it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Open up the desktop version of Outlook for the calendar you don&#8217;t want to use<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This won&#8217;t work with the internet browser version of Outlook. <strong><em>For med.uvm.edu<\/em><\/strong>, use your desktop version of Outlook, which you can install on any device. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>For uvmhealth.org<\/em><\/strong>, accessing the Outlook desktop app is a bit more complicated. On campus, log into a hospital-owned desktop and open up Outlook. Off campus, log into the <a href=\"https:\/\/workspace.uvmhealth.org\/vpn\/index.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/workspace.uvmhealth.org\/vpn\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Citrix Workspace portal<\/a> using your hospital credentials then open up the virtual desktop that&#8217;s under the &#8220;Desktops&#8221; tab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"747\" height=\"508\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1583\" style=\"width:458px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image.png 747w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-300x204.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 747px) 100vw, 747px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Wait for the virtual desktop to open then open up the desktop version of Outlook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Open up the &#8220;Rules&#8221; function<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is hidden under the Home &#8211;&gt; Move &#8211;&gt; Rules &#8211;&gt; &#8220;Create rule&#8230;&#8221; if your window isn&#8217;t all the way expanded or Home &#8211;&gt; Rules &#8211;&gt; &#8220;Create rule&#8230;&#8221; if your window is really big. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"805\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1584\" style=\"width:590px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-1.png 805w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-1-300x121.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-1-768x311.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 805px) 100vw, 805px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Make a rule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Rules and Alerts pop-up, select &#8220;new rule&#8230;&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"668\" height=\"133\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-7.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1590\" style=\"width:495px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-7.png 668w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-7-300x60.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 668px) 100vw, 668px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the Rules Wizard, select &#8220;Start from a blank rule&#8230; Apply rule on messages I receive&#8221; and click next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"517\" height=\"662\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1589\" style=\"width:442px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-6.png 517w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-6-234x300.png 234w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 517px) 100vw, 517px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In your new rule, select for <strong>Select Conditions<\/strong>, scroll way down and select &#8220;Which is a meeting invitation or update&#8221; and click next<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"527\" height=\"665\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1591\" style=\"width:443px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-8.png 527w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-8-238x300.png 238w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 527px) 100vw, 527px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Select actions<\/strong>, select &#8220;have server reply using a specific message&#8221; at the very least. You can also select &#8220;delete it&#8221; if you want to really delete it but you can also just pretend you are deleting it and folks will assume you really did delete it. It&#8217;s the same effect in my opinion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"532\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1592\" style=\"width:450px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-9.png 532w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-9-236x300.png 236w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 532px) 100vw, 532px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After checking at least the &#8220;have the server reply&#8230;&#8221; option, click at the link in the bottom half of the window to pop up the &#8220;specific message&#8221; to reply with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"662\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1593\" style=\"width:459px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-10.png 512w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/tbplante\/files\/2023\/12\/image-10-232x300.png 232w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This pops up a blank message that you can fill out. Make sure to fill out a very clear <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">subject line<\/span><\/strong> as well as the actual message that will go back to the person who sent you the calendar invite. Hit &#8220;save and close&#8221; when done.
