First Week of Tutoring

Hello, Folks–

The first week of tutoring is officially coming to a close, and I have just a few updates and announcements for you all.

I will be posting the notes from our Spring semester meetings on the blog.  Please share your comments and give suggestions that continue the conversation we began in these meetings.  The blog is as much a resource for you as it is a space for you to connect with the Learning Co-op and your fellow tutors.

I have included a copy of the most current Co-op schedule.  Be sure to take a look and let me know if the hours listed for you are incorrect or if you would like to add hours in the Co-op.

I am interested in finding a tutor to lead drop-in sessions for BSAD 180.  If anyone would be interested in this opportunity, please let me know ASAP.

Finally, we have a number of requests for tutors already this semester.  If you see a course listed below that you have taken and are interested in tutoring, request a recommendation from your professor and get it touch with me.

Arabic 052
CE 151
CE 180
CHEM 131
CHEM 162
EC 200
EE 004
PHYS 013
PRNU 131
PRNU 132

Thanks, and have a fantastic weekend!

Best,
Rachel

Welcome Back!

Welcome Back!

I have a couple of updates for you to start off the new semester.

One: The first day of tutoring is Monday, January 23.  No Co-op appointments will be scheduled and no Campus-wide appointments will be held before this date.  You may have heard from students interested in working with a tutor already this semester; do not schedule a time to meet with them prior to Monday, January 23.

Two: If you are interested in returning as a tutor for the Spring semester, you MUST meet with me.  If you were unable to attend the mandatory meeting last Monday, you have two make-up options:
Sunday, January 22 from 6:00-7:00  OR Wednesday, January 25 from 4:00-5:00 pm.
Both make-up meetings will be held in L/L CM 216.  I will be taking attendance and you will not be activated until you have attended.  (Just to reiterate, if you attended on Monday 1/16 you have already been re-activated).  If you attended training this semester, you will not need to attend a meeting to be activated.

Cheers,
Rachel

Spring Meeting Reminder!

Happy New Year, Tutors!

You have just over a week of freedom left; (safely) make the most of it!

Just a quick reminder that our MANDATORY Spring meetings in L/L Cm 315 will be held:

6:00-7:00 for SI Leaders
7:00-8:00 for EVERYONE
8:00-9:00 for Subject-Area Tutors

If you are not present at the meeting, I will assume you are not interested in returning as a tutor for the Spring semester and you will be removed from the active tutors list.  If you are forced to miss this meeting, you will need to schedule a time to meet with me before you will be reactivated.

I look forward to seeing all of you again soon!

Best,
Rachel

See you in January!

Hello, Tutors–

I hope the semester is ending well for you all.  Good luck on exams!  Just a few things before you leave for a month of relaxation and (if we get some snow) winter sports.

1. Don’t forget that our MANDATORY spring meeting will be on January 16 from 7:00-9:00 pm in L/L CM 315.  We will be covering very important information regarding the University’s policy regarding mandatory reporting.  Mark your calendars now and be sure to be there.

2. It’s already time to start planning for next year.  If you are interested in leading group tutoring sessions for any of the following classes, please let me know as soon as possible:
MATH 009-121
BCOR 12
PHYS 011/12, 52/125
BSAD 60, 61, 65, or 180

3. If you would like to have regular hours in the Co-op next semester, please let me know when you would be available so I can get started on the schedule.  We will begin tutoring the second week of classes (January 23) so it’s important to get a head start!

4.  If you still have any last minute holiday shopping to fund, don’t forget to pick up your paycheck on Friday!

Safe travels home.

Best,
Rachel

Stress Reliever Tomorrow!

Hello, Tutors and SI Leaders–

Congratulations on completing your last day of classes this Fall semester!  You guys have been working hard; reward yourself with a little downtime.  Our ASP Stress Reliever Event will be held TOMORROW from 4:00-7:00 in the Fireplace Lounge in L/L.  There will be FREE FOOD, therapy dogs, and FREE MASSAGES!  Cool stuff.  Bring your friends.

SI Leaders, if you are holding an exam review session, be sure to email your class and let them know when and where!

Your last check before break will be issued on Friday, December 16.  If you need that money for holiday shopping, make sure to get your hours in by midnight on Sunday.

Finally, MARK YOUR CALENDARS for our mandatory all-tutor meeting to kick off the spring semester.  We will be meeting on Monday, January 16 in L/L CM 315.  SI Leaders, we will be meeting from 6:00-8:00.  Subject-Area Tutors, we will be meeting 7:00-9:00pm.

Good luck with the end of the semester!

See you allllllllllll tomorrow.

Best,
Rachel
