Wildlife

10/10/21 Sightings

On my first visit to the Redstone Quarry, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of wildlife I observed. By going in the late afternoon, I was able to watch and listen to a lot of birds. Two cardinals sang back and forth for a while, and I watched crows, geese, chickadees, blue jays and morning doves around. Below the image gallery I have attached some of the audio recordings for these birds. There was also a fair amount of bees, which can be explained by the amount of wildflowers in the area. On my way back to the entrance, I came across a rabbit that sat still for a surprisingly long time, and it actually let me get very close!
