{"id":4,"date":"2011-09-09T10:58:17","date_gmt":"2011-09-09T14:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/speebles\/?p=4"},"modified":"2011-09-09T11:04:58","modified_gmt":"2011-09-09T15:04:58","slug":"the-orientation-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/speebles\/2011\/09\/09\/the-orientation-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"The Orientation Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/speebles\/files\/2011\/09\/UVM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/speebles\/files\/2011\/09\/UVM-300x127.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"127\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/speebles\/files\/2011\/09\/UVM-300x127.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/speebles\/files\/2011\/09\/UVM.jpg 668w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>On Saturday I went to my first college orientation at the Davis Center on the University of Vermont campus.\u00a0 The Davis center seems very cool and it\u2019s going to be a fun place to hang out on campus.\u00a0 The Davis center is the biggest building on campus.\u00a0 The Davis center has the UVM TV station and I hope I spend some time in there.\u00a0 It also has two food cafes and I hope they have great food in them.\u00a0 I felt very excited about my first orientation and I also felt nervous.\u00a0 During the orientation my stomach was doing flip flops.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The orientation was fun and I got to meet my mentors and that was very cool I thought.\u00a0 I have four mentors on my UVM team and I rally like them.\u00a0 Some of the mentors and I were talking about how I meet Charles Shaughnessy and other actors over the years.\u00a0 I had fun talking to my mentors and I got to know them better.\u00a0 The mentors seem very nice and they seem very cool.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>During the orientation many of us went to the basement of the Davis center and we got our \u201cofficial\u201d student Id\u2019s.\u00a0 I finally got my picture taken and it\u2019s a good one.\u00a0 A minute later the guy gives me my official Id.\u00a0 At that moment I felt awesome and very excited about starting UVM.\u00a0 I thought it was very cool and very awesome.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As a part of the orientation we talked about safety and how to stay safe on campus.\u00a0 The UVM campus has a blue light system and when you press it the police come in two minutes.\u00a0 I thought that was a very interesting face to know.\u00a0 We also talked about drinking, sexual Harassment and sexual assault.\u00a0 I gave the basic definition what is sexual assault.\u00a0 During this part of the conversation we talked about consent.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>After the orientation was done my roommate and I decided to explore the campus a little bit.\u00a0 The UVM campus is really big and I never knew that until I went to my first orientation.\u00a0 We walked over to the Royal Tyler Theater because my class is taken place right next to it.\u00a0 I had fun exploring the campus and I can do it myself this week.\u00a0 I\u2019m taking a class called Written Expressions and the class should be a lot of fun.
