Introduction to Rock Point

My place is Rock Point Peninsula in Burlington, VT. To get to Rock Point, I ride my bike down College St to the lake and then along the bike path until I reach the location. It’s an easy ride there, mostly downhill, but the trip up the hill on the way back is grueling. I chose Rock Point to be my focus for this project because when we went there for one of our first labs, I was in awe of the visibility of the thrust fault, the beauty of the lake, and the incredible trails through the woods. The vegetation on the peninsula is dominated by northern-white cedars growing out of the calcium-rich dolostone and shale, with scattered red and white pines.
