Final Visit to Rock Point

Today is December 9, 2023 and I visited Rock Point around 2:30pm. I noticed right away the dramatic decrease of color in the landscape since the last time I visited in the beginning of November. I took the same trail and sat at the same spot on the cliff overlooking the lake. There were no leaves on any trees besides the cedars and hemlocks. Animal activity has decreased significantly, save for one or two gray squirrels and a couple of ravens and seagulls flying over the water. I stayed for a couple of hours and watched the sun turned the sky a soft pink behind the mountains. There were a couple of dog walkers using the trails. I happened upon some deer scat in the meadow, it looked to be from within the last couple of days. I looked for tracks but sadly did not find any. The moss covering the large boulders in the forest were especially beautiful and the color was persistent. The ground was very dry besides a few puddles and muddy spots.
