Two buds I saw when visiting my phenology site were the northern red oak bud and yellow birch. On some of the trees these buds were already in the early stages of blooming
When walking around my site I saw Squirrel, many different species of bird- including a red tailed hawk- and deer. These are common focal species seen in these woods. The squirrels I saw were not bothered by my presence and I believe this to be because they are used to interactions with humans and are not hunted in these woods, and, the deer I saw ran after I scared it off.
The species diagram on the left shows the species Squirrels, Oak Trees, Coyotes, Barred Owl, White Tailed Deer, and Turkey Vultures and their relationship with one another. For and example the diagram shows that coyotes and vultures compete for deer caucuses.
